Bad Ischl, a small town in the heart of austria, celebrates every year the birthday of Emperor Franz Josef I.
Bad Ischl was and still is one of the most famous health resorts in austria and the Emperor visited the town almost every year in summer.
Since I visited my very good friend Magda in Bad Aussee (another famous health resort about half an hour by train away from Bad Ischl) I of course visited Bad Ischl.
For the 4th time Roti from Black Snail Patterns was hosting a historical picnic in Bad Ischl on august 15th which we both attended.
I wore my seaside bustle again, because I love the dress so much and Magda wore a dress she made in about two weeks with a lovley fashion plate from ‘The Englishwomans domestic magazine’ in mind.
We met up at the train station where a historic train arrived a little later with the emperor himself. We weren’t to keen on meeting him or waiting between the masses of visitors so we waited in the shade for the parade to take place.
After that we took a little walk to the picnic place where we enjoyed all of our food. Magda and I brought modern dumplings and not so modern biscuits made with Mrs Crocombes recipe. They were delicious and I can’t wait to make them again for an event! (I posted a little ‘how I made them’-post too today! *klick here*)
Here are a few pictures from the day!
